Flu Shots & Other Immunizations

You and your covered dependents can receive flu shots and other immunizations at your doctor’s office. Preventive care provided by an in-network doctor is covered at no cost to you. However, if the doctor or other health care professional provides services in addition to the immunization(s), you may have some out-of-pocket costs.

Various factors, such as age and lifestyle, determine when adults and children should receive immunizations. Talk to your doctor for more information about recommended immunizations for you and anyone covered under your medical plan.

Members can go to pharmacies in New Jersey for some immunizations. However, pharmacists in New Jersey are limited to providing immunizations to members based on age and other criteria. Talk to your doctor or pharmacist for more information.

The following New Jersey pharmacies can administer no-cost flu shots and other immunizations1, including shingles, hepatitis A and B, pneumococcal, tetanus, MMR and human papillomavirus (HPV). This service is covered through your Horizon BCBSNJ medical benefit.
