Our Urgent Care Centers provide immediate, quality medical care to members as an alternative to visiting the Emergency Room (ER).
Participating Horizon BCBSNJ Urgent Care Centers throughout New Jersey treat patients who have an injury or illness that requires immediate care but is not serious enough for a visit to the ER. Urgent Care Centers provide immediate, quality medical care to members as an alternative to visiting the Emergency Room (ER).
With extended and weekend hours, Urgent Care Centers treat wounds, sprains and other conditions that need immediate attention, but are not life-threatening. All participating Urgent Care Centers can perform essential services for diagnosis and treatment.
When visiting a participating Urgent Care Center, you often can get treated faster and pay much less than you would for care at the ER. An average ER visit lasts over four hours, while most Urgent Care Center visits are an hour or less.1
Treatment at a participating Urgent Care Center generally costs significantly less than care at an ER.2 To receive full in-network benefits, members must go to a participating Horizon BCBSNJ Urgent Care Center that is listed in the Doctor & Hospital Finder. Members with Horizon HMO need a referral to go to an in-network Urgent Care Center. All members are responsible for applicable copayments/coinsurance.
Routine office visits, including preventive care, sports physicals, routine obstetric services, occupational medicine and physical therapy services, are not covered at participating Urgent Care Centers.
