Did you know that the two leading health challenges facing men are heart disease and depression?

Not only is heart disease the leading cause of death for men of most racial and ethnic groups in the United States, nearly one in 13 adult men live with heart disease.

Nine percent of men are likely to experience some form of depression or anxiety. While depression is more common in women, it’s been shown that men may experience depression differently than women.

In addition, men are less likely than women to receive an annual health exam.

Make a promise to yourself to learn the symptoms and warning signs of diseases and illnesses that pose a risk to you. Then, commit to leading a more active and healthy lifestyle.

Take control of your health

Get a yearly check-up from your doctor and discuss any issues that concern you. Your best chance of avoiding both physical and mental health concerns, are prevention, self-examination, and regular visits with your doctor.

Regular screenings can catch many health problems in an early stage, when treatment is most likely to be successful.
