Surgical and Implantable Device Management Program to Expand for FEP Members

Beginning June 28, 2021, our Surgical and Implantable Device Management Program for cardiac and orthopedic surgical services will expand to include members enrolled in the Federal Employee Program® (FEP®).

Horizon BCBSNJ collaborates with TurningPoint Healthcare Solutions, LLC (TurningPoint) to administer this program. TurningPoint facilitates Prior Authorization & Medical Necessity Determination (PA/MND) reviews for certain surgical services, many of which may require the use of an implantable device.

TurningPoint will begin accepting requests for PA/MNDs starting on June 14, 2021, for any in-scope cardiac/orthopedic surgical procedure to be performed on FEP members on or after June 28, 2021.

More information about this program, including FAQs and other resources, is available on Surgical and Implantable Device Management Program page.
