Protecting Our Members from the Growing Measles Outbreak

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), 704 measles cases have been confirmed in 22 states.

This is the largest outbreak of measles in the United States since 2000.

There are currently 14 confirmed cases in New Jersey, including eight in Ocean County and four in one Monmouth County household. This household has a direct link to the outbreak community in Ocean County.

Access the Monmouth County and Ocean County Measles Exposure Locations.

Please ensure your patients are up to date with the appropriate vaccines, including the MMR vaccine. If patients are not sure of their vaccine history, or received the vaccination between1963 and1968, they can receive another vaccine.

Any suspected measles cases should be reported to your local health department within 24 hours, and your office should follow the appropriate protocols.
