May is Mental Health Awareness Month

Good health isn’t just physical. Taking care of our mind is just as important as taking care of our body. One in five adults experiences mental illness each year, according to the National Alliance on Mental Illness. Of those, only 46 percent receive treatment. Mental health disorders can lead to a range of other health issues and increase the risk of chronic disease. In fact, those with depression have a 40 percent higher risk of cardiovascular and metabolic diseases, and people with serious mental illness are nearly twice as likely to develop these conditions.

May is Mental Health Awareness Month. We strive this month and every month to help our members get the right care when they need it – both mind and body.

Our Horizon Behavioral Health program ensures that behavioral health services, including mental health and substance use disorder treatment, are available to help our members better manage all areas of their health. The program includes case management and utilization management services to offer a full range of support.

We’re here to help your Horizon and Braven Health patients:

  • Understand their coverage
  • Get the most out of their benefits
  • Coordinate and connect their care
  • Get follow-up support

We encourage you to use the tools and resources available through Horizon Behavioral Health program to assist your patients.
