Maternity Health Coach
The registered nurses of Horizon BCBSNJ’s Maternity Health Coach program provide one-on-one educational support to expectant parents. Our coaches can help eligible members feel more comfortable accessing the right care for themselves and their babies.
Coaches do not replace a doctor’s care, but they can discuss pregnancy, labor and delivery, and postpartum care, so you have the information you need when you need it.
Coaches can discuss your general pregnancy questions about topics like breastfeeding, travel, common physical and emotional changes and nutrition and exercise. They can also speak with you about your specific needs if you:
- Need to find an in-network Ob/Gyn
- Are carrying multiples
- Have a medical condition that may impact your pregnancy
- Have been diagnosed with a pregnancy-related health condition, such as gestational diabetes
How to Reach a Maternity Health Coach
Eligible members will have a 24/7 Nurse Line phone number printed on the back of their member ID card. Call this number and choose option 3 to reach a Maternity Health Coach Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., Eastern Time.
Outside of these hours, you can use option 1 of your 24/7 Nurse Line number to reach a nurse at any time.
