The Power of Paperless

No more waiting for the mail or sorting through endless piles of paperwork. With fast and secure access to all of your health plan details, you’ve got your most important personal health information right at your fingertips.

That’s the power of paperless.

We’re starting the transition to digital to give you faster, safer access to your health plan information, determinations and communications. You’ll have easy access to this information through the secure Horizon Blue app¹ and the secure member web portal at HorizonBlue.com². You agree to receive electronic communications through the member web portal and app instead of by paper through your continued use of the app and web portal.

Starting November 22, 2019, members who are registered for the member web portal will no longer receive a paper Explanation of Benefits (EOB) statement in the mail. You can access and print EOBs from the app and member web portal when and where you need to – plus:

You’ll be notified via email and/or SMS text, depending on your preference, when your EOB is available to view.

  • You can view and print a copy of your EOB weeks before you would receive it in the mail.
  • Your EOBs are available to view for 18 months.
  • You have secure access to the app and member web portal with a unique username and password.
  • Your EOBs won’t get lost in the mail, or even worse, end up in the wrong hands.

Need a paper copy of your EOB? No problem.

You can contact Member Services through email, chat or over the phone to ask for a specific EOB to be mailed to you. To go back to receiving all of your EOBs by mail, after November 23, 2019 you can sign in to the member web portal and go to Profile & Settings. Then go to Paperless Settings and uncheck the Go Paperless box. There is no fee for receiving paper EOBs.

Even if you choose to receive your EOBs in the mail, an EOB will not be sent to you when the amount you owe is equal to or less than your copay. However, you will always be able to view this information when you sign in to the secure member web or Horizon app.

To get connected to your information on the member web portal, you will need a laptop, computer or mobile device with Internet access and the latest version of either Chrome, Safari, Firefox or Internet Explorer (IE). And, the Horizon Blue app is compatible with IOS 10 and Android 5.0 and above.
