Prime Specialty Pharmacy Announcement

Applies to: All commercial and Medicare members who have pharmacy coverage through Horizon BCBSNJ and use Prime Therapeutics Specialty PharmacyTM (Prime Specialty Pharmacy)

Effective July 15, 2017, Prime Therapeutics LLC (Prime), Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield of New Jersey’s pharmacy benefit manager, and Walgreens have integrated their pharmacy systems to create a collaborative central specialty pharmacy. Your employees should expect to see the same level of care and support they already receive from Prime Specialty Pharmacy during this transition.

There will be no changes to your employees’ service. The following will remain the same:

  • Refill reminders – the process for members receiving their medicine
  • The phone number to call Prime Specialty Pharmacy
  • The hours of operation
  • Phone communication

Your employees may notice changes in communications and packaging including the:

  • Use of the Prime Specialty Pharmacy and Walgreens logos
  • Box that holds their medicine
  • Label affixed to the front of the box will show “Filled By: Walgreens Specialty Pharmacy” and the dispensing location as Canton, MI
  • Cooler/cooler packaging
  • Information sheets
