Members Can Access and Share Member ID Cards Virtually

Blue Cross Blue Shield of New Jersey (Horizon BCBSNJ) would like to remind our members that, in addition to presenting a member ID card when getting care, there are options for sharing coverage information when signed in to the Horizon Blue app and our secure member web portal,

Please share this flyer with your new and existing customers to show how easy it is to access a member ID card virtually.

Access member information on the go

Members can use the Horizon Blue app1 to access their member ID cards quickly. After downloading the app and signing in, a member can simply tap ID Cards and follow on-screen prompts to view, download, print or share their member ID card with their doctors and covered dependents by email or text. Through their secure online account, members can also chat with a nurse 24/7, connect with a doctor through video or chat, and review claim information.

And, that’s not all. Members can order replacement cards through the app, and those who use the app on an iPhone® can save their member ID card to Apple WalletTM, a convenient way to store important information.

Members can also view their member ID cards by signing in to Once signed in, members simply select ID Cards and follow the on-screen prompts to print, download or request a replacement card. Like the app, ;offers options for members to chat with a nurse 24/7, connect with a doctor through video or chat, and review claim information.

Note: Some members may only be able to view and print a proof of coverage letter, which includes the same information as a member ID card.

We’re educating providers about digital member ID cards

Horizon BCBSNJ continues to share the advantages of digital member ID cards with our network providers to help them prepare to accept member ID cards in this way from their Horizon BCBSNJ patients:

  • Digital member ID cards are a secure way to access up-to-date member information when members need care.
  • Doctor’s office staff can verify a member’s coverage, before he or she arrives in the office or during a telemedicine appointment, without needing a physical member ID card.
  • Limiting unnecessary interactions can help members stay safe during difficult times.
