Horizon BCBSNJ to Expand Its Laboratory Network
Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield of New Jersey is expanding its laboratory network to help increase members’ access to quality care. Beginning January 1, 2019, Horizon BCBSNJ members will have a greater choice of in-network laboratories for laboratory services performed in New Jersey (based on their plan benefits).
How We’re Improving Access
Effective January 1, 2019, our laboratory network will be as follows:
Horizon PPO Network
Members who are enrolled in plans that use the Horizon PPO Network will have access to the following in-network national laboratories:
- BioReference Laboratories
- Laboratory Corporation of America Holdings (LabCorp)
- Quest Diagnostics
Horizon Managed Care Network
Members who are enrolled in plans that use the Horizon Managed Care Network¹ will have access to the following in-network national laboratories:
- Quest Diagnostics
This expansion continues Horizon BCBSNJ’s commitment to improving access to care, lowering overall costs and improving the member experience.
Your clients’ employees can reduce their out-of-pocket costs by using these in-network national laboratories. As a reminder, our networks include a number of participating laboratories that can provide a variety of specialized laboratory services. Your clients’ employees can visit our Online Doctor & Hospital Finder at HorizonBlue.com/doctorfinder to locate participating laboratories. BlueCard® members may use the National Doctor & Hospital Finder at provider.bcbs.com to locate participating laboratories when receiving laboratory services outside of New Jersey.

¹Pathology services provided in a hospital setting to members enrolled in Horizon BCBSNJ managed care plans by a practice that participates in the Horizon Managed Care Network are allowed as an exception to the above-described LabCorp/Quest Diagnosticsnetwork use requirements.
