Horizon BCBSNJ offices and call centers will close to celebrate Juneteenth
Applies to: All Commercial markets
Starting this year, Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield of New Jersey (Horizon BCBSNJ) will observe Juneteenth (June 19) as an official Company holiday. Horizon BCBSNJ offices and call centers, except for our Horizon Behavioral Health teams, will be closed on Friday, June 181, to recognize the historical and cultural importance of Juneteenth. Members will still be able to access plan information and claim details by signing in to HorizonBlue.com and the Horizon Blue app, and can read answers to frequently asked questions online.
Juneteenth — also known as Freedom Day, Jubilee Day, Black Independence Day and Emancipation Day — commemorates the day in 1865 when slavery ended in the United States.
Juneteenth presents us all with an opportunity to honor, learn and reflect on this pivotal event in our history and where we stand today.
Our Commitment to Diversity and Health Equity
Horizon BCBSNJ takes pride in our commitment to diversity and inclusion, and we are working toward health equity in the communities we serve. Celebrating diversity is a part of who we are as a Company and our employees’ diversity represents the richness of our state. Recognizing Juneteenth as a Company holiday is a small but important step to acknowledge and celebrate Black freedom, culture and history.
We appreciate the understanding and support of members and customers on this important day of learning. We wish you a joyous Juneteenth.
