Get Back on Track with Preventive Care

In these unprecedented times, it’s been easy to put off the things we should do to maintain our physical and mental health, like annual physicals, childhood immunizations, or even cancer screenings. As COVID-19 spread across the population, leaving home may just have seemed too risky.

But, now more than ever, preventive care should be a top priority.

There are simple things we can do to maintain a healthy lifestyle – exercise regularly, wash our hands, eat a healthy diet and get enough sleep. But preventive care is more than that. We want to help our members achieve their best health, and that means getting the recommended screenings and immunizations to avoid getting sick. Because it’s so important, most preventive care services are covered at 100% when in-network doctors provide care.

Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield of New Jersey (Horizon BCBSNJ) is kicking off a campaign highlighting the importance of preventive care. We will explain why preventive care is so important and provide information on how members can get care – including the various programs and tools they have through their Horizon BCBSNJ coverage.

Members can look forward to communications about:

  • The importance of the flu vaccine and other immunizations
  • Staying healthy and safe during COVID-19
  • Telemedicine and other ways to get care
  • Health tips and much more

Members will be encouraged to follow us on social media or our hashtag #HorizonHealthy to get the latest information, updates and tips about preventive care, screenings and important immunizations.

Horizon BCBSNJ provides lists of recommended immunizations for children from birth to age 21 years, and adults from age 21 years. Members should sign in to the secure member portal at to find out what’s covered under their health plan.
