Fear and anxiety about the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic can be overwhelming. The changes to your regular routine can be difficult. You may have trouble sleeping, and feel anxious and uncertain about what the future will bring.
Finding ways to take care of yourself and your loved ones can help you cope and feel better. Here are some tips:
- Stay connected with friends and family. Support your friends and family by checking in with them. Phone calls, emails and texts can help you and your loved ones feel less lonely and isolated.
- Reduce stress during times of uncertainty. Take deep breaths, stretch or meditate. If you need to, take breaks from watching, reading or listening to news stories, and avoid social media and television. Talk with people you trust about your concerns and how you are feeling.
- Take care of yourself physically. Eat healthy, well‐balanced meals. Also, get plenty of sleep. Go for a walk outside during nice weather, but remember to be safe and observe social distancing guidelines.
- Talk with your child or teen. Kids are likely to react, in part, to what they see from the adults around them. Answer questions about COVID-19 in a way that your child or teen understands.
