Consumers with health insurance questions on their mind -- or a health policy on their shopping list – can now find what they need with a trip to the mall. Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield of New Jersey (Horizon BCBSNJ) has expanded its local presence by establishing Horizon Connect retail locations at four major malls, where company representatives are on hand to meet with consumers and guide them through the complexities of purchasing and using health insurance.
"Horizon continues to transform the health insurance experience by making it more personalized with one-on-one attention to help consumers make informed decisions about their coverage," said Joseph Albano, Vice President of Consumer and Dental Markets for Horizon BCBSNJ. "In addition to the outreach we provide through the Horizon Connect Retail Center in Moorestown, our Blue to You Mobile Program and many other community-based initiatives, we’re extending staff, including bi-lingual agents, to mall locations to better accommodate consumers during the open enrollment period for the individual market."
This month, Horizon BCBSNJ opened retail kiosks at the following malls:
- Woodbridge Center -- 250 Woodbridge Center Drive, Woodbridge, NJ.
- The Outlet Collection / Jersey Gardens -- 651 Kapkowski Road, Elizabeth, NJ.
- Newport Center Mall -- 30 Mall Drive West, Jersey City, NJ.
- Willowbrook Mall -- 1400 Willowbrook Mall Rd. Wayne, NJ.
The mall kiosks feature partitioned space where consumers can meet with Horizon BCBSNJ agents in a semi-private setting to ask questions about health coverage, review their eligibility for financial assistance, and receive help with selecting a policy, on-line through Horizon BCBSNJ’s sales portal or through the Federally Facilitated Marketplace (Marketplace).
Horizon BCBSNJ is offering nine competitively priced plans on the Marketplace, including the lowest priced plan, the Horizon Essentials plan for individuals 30 and under. Horizon BCBSNJ is also offering the lowest priced Bronze plan as well as an innovative, patient-centered Silver plan that offers an affordable premium and no deductible when patients seek services from one of 3,700 patient-centered doctor practices, the state’s largest patient-centered network.

The mall locations will be open and assisting consumers during the entire 2015 open enrollment period for individual coverage, which begins on November 15 and runs through February 15. Consumers shopping for a Medicare Advantage product may also be assisted with information or a purchase between now and the end of the Medicare Advantage enrollment period for 2015 coverage – December 7.
