Nemours/Alfred I. duPont Hospital for Children will be out of network on May 1, 2014
Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield of New Jersey has terminated its hospital contract with Nemours/Alfred I. duPont Hospital for Children (A.I. duPont Hospital). This means that A.I. duPont Hospital will not be participating in the Horizon Hospital Network.
Our company continually works to maintain a balance between keeping health care affordable for our 3.7 million members and reimbursing our network health care professionals and hospitals reasonably and fairly. We take this obligation seriously.
Under state law and the terms of Horizon BCBSNJ’s contract, all Horizon BCBSNJ members may continue to use A.I. duPont Hospital as a network hospital through April 30, 2014 (prior authorization must be obtained when required) as a period for transition of care.
Beginning May 1, 2014, A.I. duPont Hospital will be out-of-network for all Horizon BCBSNJ members.
Horizon BCBSNJ is notifying our members in writing that Horizon BCBSNJ has terminated its contract with A.I. duPont Hospital. This change does not affect members’ basic health care benefits. We encourage members to use other area hospitals in the Horizon Hospital Network to maximize their benefits and minimize their out-of-pocket costs.
For nonemergency services, members must use hospitals in the Horizon Hospital Network to receive the in-network level of benefits. Members can use our Doctor & Hospital Finder to find a participating hospital near them. As always, in an emergency situation, members should go immediately to the nearest emergency facility, without worrying about network affiliations to receive care.
