Hurricane Florence Update: September 14, 2018

Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield of New Jersey is working to ensure that all members who are impacted by Hurricane Florence have continued access to care.

Members in areas affected by Hurricane Florence can expect:

  • Prior authorization notification time limits to be waived.
  • To be able to use their health coverage to replace medical equipment or supplies that are lost due to the hurricane, subject to their plan terms including regular cost share requirements.
  • Early refills of prescriptions upon request, if prescription coverage is provided through Horizon BCBSNJ, so that care is not interrupted. Pharmacists or members can call our pharmacy benefits manager, Prime Therapeutics LLC, at 1-800-370-5088 with questions.

In addition,all Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield of New Jersey members who live in North Carolina or South Carolina are eligible for no-cost telehealth visits through Horizon CareOnline. Horizon CareOnline doctors can prescribe medications, if needed, to pharmacies nearby. This offer is good for unlimited telehealth visits from September 14, 2018 through September 27, 2018. To use this offer, simply go to HorizonCareOnline.com, register or sign in, and use code Florence in the Coupon Code field on the Payment screen.

As always, members can display or print their member ID cards by registering and signing in at HorizonBlue.com and choosing ID Cards.
