Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield of New Jersey extends our heartfelt thoughts to all the victims of Hurricane Katrina. In the wake of this disaster, we recognize that some of our members may have been impacted by this devastating storm. If you are a Horizon BCBSNJ member, our focus remains on helping you receive the care you require.

We are making special provisions for members who may have faced barriers to health care and medications. Until further notice, we are suspending referrals and prior authorization requirements for covered services for those members who were located in the area most directly affected by the storm, ensuring these impacted members get the care they need, when they need it. Additionally, impacted members in this region can refill prescriptions even if they are not due to be filled for 30 days, and any lost or damaged mail-order prescriptions will be replaced.

If you are an impacted member who needs help finding care or understanding your coverage, please call the toll-free number on the back of your Horizon BCBSNJ ID card. If you do not have access to your ID card, please call 1-800-447-2610. This terrible tragedy has ravaged communities while affecting our entire nation.
